Project 2: Sustainable Product Service System - "The Big Idea"

"The Big Idea"

This product service system focuses on collaborative consumption - how to design things to be easily shared?

This product is designed to help tourists in big cities. You do not know much about the city you just arrived in, and you will often have a hard copy map to help telling where in the city you are and where to go. Yet it will only give you an idea of the road system in the city and it is not updated with news about what is going on in the city. Maybe there will be a big firework in the evening or a concert. As tourist you will have no idea about these events, because nothing is telling you. You could of course take your "Smartphone" and search for events on the internet, but because of very high international roaming charges, tourists do not want to use mobile data when visiting other countries. All this will be solved by "The Question Mark". "The Question Mark" will be placed in different spots around the city, which will make it almost impossible not to meet. "The Question Mark" is a computer with touch screen, and it will give you different opportunities. You can search for things happening in the city, get tickets for an event or public transport, find a way to get there and all this is collected in just one product service system. This will also make the sharing of hard copy maps easier and reduce waste.

Sustainable Product Service Systems - Mid-phase

Sustainable Product Service Systems - WCR 2

Own tutor - Tom

If you go with that structure, there have to be some kind of beams inside to support the structure.
Your system map is only concerning about the user. You need to show how the service is working according to damage and vandalism. Who is watching it and makes sure that it works and is not damaged in any ways. You also need to show in the system map, how it is updating with news. Will there be a homebase, that receives the news and then update the system? You have to include these things to complete your system map.

Peers

Benedicte: You could make some research about which height people prefer to have a screen in front of them - do they want to look a bit down or up? You could also make a feature that tells the tourist where these tourist guides are placed around the city.
Ole: I like your idea, but you should think about the overall height of the product, so it is easy to find.

Listening to other tutor - Mar

You have to think about, how you make the structure of your product tenable against all possible scenarios.

Plans of doing for next week

I have to finish up all the requirements for next week, but I especially have to look at my system map and complete it in a way that will make it understandable for people who have never seen the project before.
