Disassembly reflections
Today´s disassembly made me realize how many parts there actually are in a
coffee machine. And if that wasn´t enough a lot of the parts are different, for
example there are many different screws and that means you have to be in possess
of many different screwdrivers, and thereby it is difficult for the consumer to
fix the coffee machine by himself if a part is out of order. Another difficult
thing about the machine is that it is very complex - you have to take some
other parts apart before you can get access to the part you actually want.
To make the product more "green" it would be an idea to use less
different parts and make the access to the parts easier, and in that way make
it more simple, so the consumer can fix the coffee machine by himself. Then you
will avoid the issue, where you have to send it back to the company that
produce it, so they either can fix it or send the consumer a new one. This will
mean less raw materials for production of a new coffee machine and less
transportation between the consumer and the company. The consumer will only
have to order the part, which is broke, and then change that one with the new
part.
